Il matrimonio con rito civile viene celebrato da un Ufficiale di stato civile o da un'altra persona richiesta espressamente dagli sposi (di solito amici o familiari). Tale matrimonio è molto più breve di quello religioso ma nonostante questo può essere ugualmente conferita una certa solennità in quanto esistono moltissime sale comunali suggestive nelle quali l’ingresso della sposa e la celebrazione sono egualmente uniche ed indimenticabili.

Documenti Necessari:
Per il matrimonio civile la prassi è piuttosto semplice e i documenti facilmente reperibili. Due mesi prima del matrimonio,i futuri sposi devono presentarsi insieme presso l'Ufficio di Stato Civile del comune di residenza di uno dei due fidanzati per richiedere i documenti necessari per il matrimonio.
I documenti che verranno rilasciati sono due:
• L'atto di nascita
• Il certificato contestuale (che comprende residenza, stato libero e cittadinanza)
• Se uno dei due contraenti è divorziato, dovrà aggiungere anche la sentenza di divorzio, mentre se è vedovo sarà necessario l’atto di morte del coniuge defunto.
• Successivamente, gli incaricati comunali provvederanno ad elaborare tutta la documentazione necessaria e a contattare personalmente i futuri sposi per fissare la data del giuramento di matrimonio.
In seguito a tale promessa, per la quale non è più richiesta la presenza di un genitore e dei testimoni, verranno esposte per 8 giorni alla Porta della Casa Comunale dei comuni di residenza di entrambi i futuri sposi le pubblicazioni, recanti le complete generalità dei promessi e il luogo di celebrazione delle nozze.
