Sulle colline dell’Umbria centrale, sorge il monastero dedicato a Santa Rita, sposa maltrattata e vedova che 600 anni fa prese i voti. Qui spesso le donne vanno a pregare per il matrimonio appena consacrato. Proprio quando alcune di loro hanno cominciato a portare con sé il proprio abito delle nozze come ex voto ha preso vita la collezione degli abiti.
Suor Maria Laura, che prima di prendere i voti lavorava nella moda, ha ben pensato di dare l’opportunità alle spose in difficoltà economica di avere in dono un abito di seconda mano. Se cosi si può dire visto che viene utilizzato per poche ore. Oggi l’atelier riceve circa dieci abiti nuziali al mese.
Le spose, che arrivano da tutta Italia, possono provare l’abito in uno spazio con tanto di specchi e ricevere i consigli di Suor Maria Laura. Non tutte sono in grandi difficoltà economiche. Alcune scelgono questa opzione per altre motivazioni. Alcune decidono di lasciare una donazione. La cosa è ovviamente a discrezione della sposa.
